- GOGOA and TECNOVA start the EXO-Green project, funded by the DIH-World initiative of the EU
SMART ACTIVE EXOSKELETON FOR GREENHOUSE WORKS GOGOA Mobility Robots SL, a company dedicated to the design and production of exoskeletons, and the Foundation for Auxiliary Technologies of Agriculture (TECNOVA), a research and innovation centre for the agricultural sector, have started the activities of the EXO-Green project, whose objective is to adapt, test and validate an active exoskeleton for lumbar support in real working conditions, with advanced features based on the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques, and specially adapted to the requirements of greenhouse works. The project is funded by the European Union, under the DIH-World initiative. The motivation for this project is that not all activities necessary in greenhouse production can be fully automated or robotized. Unfortunately, some of these activities must continue to be performed manually, even if they place great physical strain on the workers. Wearable robotic systems (exoskeletons) can help workers involved in these tasks, helping to reduce fatigue and decrease musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), which represent 93% of occupational diseases in the agricultural sector, being the shoulders and lumbar segments the most affected. However, the practical use of exoskeletons in agriculture often faces technical and non-technical challenges, due to the very low rate of introduction of this new technology in the agricultural sector. The project seeks to overcome these barriers that hinder the extensive use of exoskeletons in agricultural activities, adapting and testing in real working conditions in greenhouse works an active exoskeleton for lumbar support characterized by a disruptive level of autonomy, modularity and natural interaction with the user, based on AI algorithms implemented in the control. To verify and validate the device in these working conditions, parameters such as safety, usability, quality, reliability and satisfaction will be evaluated, using different measurement equipment and questionnaires. The results of the project will allow stakeholders to identify the development directions of exoskeletons in this sector and support a more rapid evolution of the market. - We have completed the BELK tests in the Eurobench project.
In collaboration with CEIT, we have finished testing our BELK knee exoskeleton in different situations thanks to the Eurobench project. The EUROBENCH project aims to create the first unified benchmarking framework for robotic systems in Europe. This framework will allow companies and/or researchers to test the performance of their robots at any stage of development. The project is mainly focused on bipedal systems, i.e. exoskeletons, prosthetics and humanoids, but it is also opened to cover other robotic technologies. We continue testing BELK thanks to Eurobench. The tests have been carried out at the Eurobench facilities, in the Los Madroños hospital (Getafe) and in different scenarios: Experience, PEPATO y STEP-by-STEP.
- We continue testing HANK
In collaboration with CEIT, we have been carrying out different trials with our lower limb exoskeleton under the Eurobench project. The tests have been carried out in different environments such as: ramps, stairs, etc. The results have been very favourable, confirming the versatility of our lower limb exoskeleton. In addition, the test results will contribute to the improvement of walking patterns and human exoskeleton interaction. As we have already mentioned in the past, the Eurobech project aims to create the first unified benchmarking framework for robotic systems in Europe. This framework will allow companies and/or researchers to test the performance of their robots at any stage of development. The project is mainly focused on bipedal systems, i.e. exoskeletons, prosthetics and humanoids, but it is also opened to cover other robotic technologies.

- NEURO-REHABILITATION WITH EXOSKELETONS, THE BEST OPTION
Several clinical trials show that treatment with exoskeletons for mobility impairment is the most effective treatment to date, as it allows repeatability of movements, which leads to two neurological phenomena in the patient: neuronal plasticity and reprogramming of the motor neurons of the nervous system. NEURONAL PLASTICITY Works in patients with: - Acquired brain damage - Neurodegenerative diseases What does the process consist of? The process of neural plasticity recruits healthy areas of the brain to take over the functions of those that have suffered motor damage. In short, healthy neurons take over the functions of those that have been damaged, allowing the patient to regain mobility. REPROGRAMMING OF MOTOR NEURONS IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM Works in patients with: - Acquired brain damage - Neurodegenerative diseases - Partial spinal cord injury What does the process involve? Patients suffering from these diseases and/or injuries receive a weak or distorted signal in their muscles, which is not sufficient to activate and control movement. The motor neurons, responsible for managing mobility, are reprogrammed through training with exoskeletons and learn to activate with lower-intensity or distorted signals. Thanks to this, the patient's motor functions are restored. Finally, the positive and more accelerated evolution of recovery due to the intensity of the treatment increases adherence to the treatment. In other words, the patient becomes more involved, and the likelihood of abandonment is reduced. This increases the potential for rehabilitation. #exoskeletons#neurorehabilitation#rehabilitation#neurology#medtech#biotechnology#hightech#mobility#acquiredbraindamage#neurodegenerativediseases#medullaryinjury#neuronalplasticity#motorinjury#injury#muscle#training#motoneurons#nervoussystem#exo#exo#exosuit#clinicaltrials

- MEDICAL REHABILITATION FINDS ITS BEST ALLY IN THE ROBOTICS INDUSTRY
A few days ago Juantxu Martín, CTO of Gogoa was interviewed by the ABC newspaper for the publication of the following news item: "MEDICAL REHABILITATION FINDS ITS BEST ALLIED IN THE ROBOTICS INDUSTRY. The growing application of these technological solutions in healthcare centres opens a new door of hope for thousands of patients". It mentions Gogoa as a national and international reference in robotic neuro-rehabilitation thanks to exoskeletons such as Hank and Belk and the opening of clinics for the design and development of neuro-rehabilitation therapies; Movex Clinics and Movex Living Lab. He highlights how Gogoa's R&D&I work is combined with the work of patient care and personalised treatment. Likewise, as Dr. Carolina De Miguel, president of the Spanish Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (Sermef), highlights in the news: "technological development and advances in neuroplasticity and motor learning facilitate the incorporation of robotics in the field of neurorehabilitation, in the field of research and in clinical applications. They are beginning to appear in rehabilitation services as novel and powerful therapeutic elements that are changing the rehabilitation paradigm". And it is in fact thanks to the repetitiveness of the movements generated with exoskeletons such as Hank and Belk that these two neurological phenomena called neuroplasticity and motor neuron reprogramming occur. Phenomena that lead to the recruitment and reprogramming of neurons (in respective order) to obtain unique results in motor gait rehabilitation. Results that conventional therapies cannot achieve. Finally, the industrial applications of exoskeletons are also discussed, where Cyber Human Systems, a spin-off of Gogoa, plays an important role. The aim of this new technology is to reduce sick leave, prevent musculoskeletal disorders and increase human capabilities. #ABC #GOGOA #GogoaMobilityRobots #rehabilitation #medicalrehabilitation #industry #indutriarobotics #robots #neurorehabilitation #neurology #exoskeletons #exoskeletons #exosuit #medicalexoskeletons #biomechanics #biomechanics #biomechanics
