World Exoskeleton Day: Gogoa Celebrates 10 Years of Innovation

On May 2nd, the world celebrated World Exoskeleton Day (WED), an international initiative to highlight the positive impact of exoskeletons on people’s lives. At Gogoa Mobility Robots, we proudly joined this global celebration, reaffirming our commitment to developing technology that enhances autonomy, health, and quality of life.
What is World Exoskeleton Day?
World Exoskeleton Day was launched in 2022 by Project MARCH, a team from Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) dedicated to developing exoskeletons for people with spinal cord injuries. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the real-world applications of exoskeleton technology—beyond science fiction or military use—and demonstrate its transformative potential in fields such as neurorehabilitation, physical assistance, and industrial ergonomics.
Every year on May 2nd, professionals, researchers, companies, and users come together to share progress, success stories, and personal experiences that showcase the societal value of exoskeletons.
10 Years of Innovation at Gogoa
This year marks a special milestone for Gogoa: our 10th anniversary. From our roots in the Basque Country, we’ve become pioneers in the development and commercialization of CE-marked rehabilitation exoskeletons in Europe.
Our devices—including HANK, BELK, HAND OF HOPE, and ALPERK—are designed with a clear purpose: to support the recovery of individuals affected by stroke, spinal cord injury, or neurodegenerative diseases through evidence-based, user-focused solutions.
Internal Celebration: Technology and Team Evolution
While WED fell on a long holiday weekend in Spain, we moved our internal celebration to Monday, May 5th. During the event, we hosted a special talk reflecting on our journey, highlighting major milestones and the challenges we’ve overcome.
It was also a moment to appreciate the evolution of our multidisciplinary team—engineers, clinicians, researchers, designers, and business professionals—united by one mission: to improve lives through human-centered technology.
