GOGOA METHOD

PHASES OF ROBOTIC NEUROREHABILITATION

PHASE 1 • INITIAL ASSESSMENT

Functional assessment that includes an interview and a clinical examination, using functional scales.

PHASE 2 • REPORT AND TREATMENT PROPOSAL

The clinical team drafts the report and the individualized treatment proposal, focused on the goals and needs of each patient, including their deficits and abilities.

  • The idea is to combine rehabilitation technologies such as gait and hand exoskeletons, virtual reality, and balance platforms with conventional physiotherapy and therapeutic exercises. The rationale behind this combination is that clinical trials have demonstrated improved outcomes in key areas such as gait, balance, muscle strength, and sensation.

  • If the criteria for using exoskeletons are not met from the outset, a preliminary physiotherapy treatment will be carried out using complementary technologies. Balance and strength will be addressed with the aim of incorporating robotic technology as soon as possible.

PHASE 3 • INTENSIVE TREATMENT WITH ROBOTIC TECHNOLOGY (EXOSKELETONS)

  1. Familiarization: Getting acquainted with the equipment

  2. Rehabilitation: Intensive combined treatment (3 to 5 months)

  3. Consolidation: Coordination of the movement

  4. Follow-up: Recall sessions

During the treatment period, follow-up reports are made, always focused on the objectives initially set, with real data on the patient's evolution provided by the teams themselves.

All of this is thanks to the use of exoskeletons, as they allow for repetitive movements that cause two neurological phenomena in the patient:

  1. Neuronal plasticity  

  2. Reprogramming of motor neurons

NEURONAL PLASTICITY

It recruits healthy areas of the brain to take over the functions of those that have suffered motor injury. In short, healthy neurons assume the functions of those that have been damaged, allowing the patient to regain mobility.

REPROGRAMMING OF MOTOR NEURONS

Patients suffering from these diseases or injuries receive a weak or distorted signal in their muscles, which is insufficient to activate and control movement. Through exoskeleton training, the neurons responsible for managing mobility, the motor neurons, are reprogrammed and learn to activate with weaker or distorted signals.

AI-REHAB PROJECT: HAZITEK - BASQUE GOVERNMENT

Movex Clinics is pleased to present the innovative AI-REHAB project, which is receiving support and funding from the Basque Government through the HAZITEK program. This project is led by a consortium of leading companies and research institutions, with the aim of promoting research and development in critical areas of robotics and technology.

AI-REHAB Project : Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Robotic Neuro-Rehabilitation


Participants : GOGOA, MOVEX BILBAO, MIRANDA Foundation, University of Deusto.


Objectives : AI-REHAB focuses on improving therapy and procedures for robotic neuro-rehabilitation of mobility through the use of artificial intelligence. This project involves collaboration with robotics experts, rehabilitation clinics, and research institutions to personalize treatments and explore the use of robotic systems in preventing frailty in older adults.
