We are delighted to announce our participation in VIVELAB-EXO, an ambitious initiative funded by EIT Manufacturing, aimed at enhancing ergonomics in industrial environments through the development of an advanced simulation platform. This distinguished project, in collaboration with FAREL Plastics (Wirthwein Group), CTAG – Centro Tecnológico de Automoción de Galicia, and ViVeTech Nyrt., represents a momentous advancement in the seamless integration of cutting-edge technology and exoskeletons within professional settings.

What is the VIVELAB-EXO Project?

VIVELAB-EXO aspires to refine and elevate human-centric technology, optimising working conditions, bolstering efficiency, and reducing labour management costs. A key priority is addressing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD), the primary cause of occupational absences worldwide, particularly within the manufacturing sector.

At the heart of this project lies the creation of an ergonomics assessment platform, which seamlessly integrates simulation tools with industrial exoskeletons, thereby enabling a comprehensive evaluation and enhancement of workers’ conditions in physically demanding tasks. Through this pioneering technological solution, we aim to substantially mitigate WMSDs in industries where heavy lifting and strenuous postures remain a daily reality.

Impact of the Project

VIVELAB-EXO is set to deliver significant environmental, social, and economic benefits, including:

  • Reduction of WMSDs: Ergonomic innovations will alleviate fatigue and lessen the risk of injuries among employees.

  • Enhanced productivity: Improved working conditions will foster efficiency and lower staff turnover rates.

  • Positive environmental impact: A reduction in workforce fluctuation will consequently decrease recruitment and training costs, while simultaneously minimising the carbon footprint associated with these processes.

  • ESG compliance: Organisations will be equipped to meet and report on sustainability and employee well-being objectives, reinforcing corporate social responsibility.

Our Contribution

At Gogoa Mobility Robots, through our distinguished brand Cyber Human Systems, a leader in industrial exoskeleton technology, we bring extensive expertise in developing and deploying wearable robotic solutions in professional and healthcare environments. Our role within the VIVELAB-EXO project is to integrate exoskeletons into pilot testing, meticulously evaluating their impact on workplace ergonomics and productivity. Moreover, as esteemed members of the ASTM F-48 working group, we will play a pivotal role in advancing the standardisation of exoskeleton technology in industrial frameworks.

Initial Milestones and Future Prospects

The recent kick-off meeting at FAREL marked the commencement of this prestigious collaboration. During this distinguished gathering, consortium partners laid the foundations for the technological development of VIVELAB-EXO and meticulously organised the initial pilot tests that will validate its impact.

As the project progresses, a myriad of dissemination activities will be undertaken, including:

✔ Production and dissemination of audiovisual materials.

✔ Publication of articles and educational content.

✔ Conferences on ergonomic technology and exoskeletons.

✔ Presentations at esteemed international fairs such as ExoBerlin.

✔ Active participation in international standards for industrial ergonomics.

We are most thrilled about this exhilarating endeavour and are confident that VIVELAB-EXO will usher in a new era of ergonomic technological integration in the industrial sector. We eagerly anticipate sharing our progress and successes with you!
