ABOUT GOGOA
LEADERS IN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
GOGOA was founded in the Basque Country as a biomedical engineering company dedicated to the development of neurorehabilitation exoskeletons. Our first major milestone was HANK, a pioneering exoskeleton and international benchmark in gait rehabilitation.
From that experience, we have evolved into a global leader in technologies that drive health, prevention, defense, sports, and space.
We develop solutions that integrate motor and cognitive rehabilitation, human performance optimization, and personalized strategic projects, along with our own clinics that connect innovation with medical practice.

Designing and developing advanced technological solutions that enhance human capabilities, improve quality of life, and lead the revolution in rehabilitation and ergonomics. At GOGOA, we combine engineering, science, and social commitment to transform the future.

HISTORY AND EVOLUTION
Gogoa is committed to an inclusive future by designing high-tech robotics and industrial products. This is the work we're doing to achieve it, and what we're learning along the way.
THE ROAD TO REVOLUTION – FIRST STEPS
In 2012, our mission was to identify new business opportunities to revitalize the economy of the Urola Garaia region in Gipuzkoa. We found ourselves in the region with the oldest population in Spain, with a large number of senior living facilities, home care services, and a regional hospital in Zumárraga. We identified that all the technical assistance used in the public health service was imported and saw an opportunity to develop products locally.
After an exhaustive analysis, we found emerging technologies focused on the maintenance and rehabilitation of motor skills, and within these, exoskeletons appeared, a clear bet for the future.
During several exploratory trips to Japan and the US, we had the opportunity to visit various universities (University of Tsukuba and MIT), companies dedicated to the manufacture of exoskeletons, hospitals, and rehabilitation centers. But it was at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Charlestown (just outside Boston) where, while we were walking down one of the hallways, Professor Bonato, an Italian who directed the rehabilitation unit, said to us, “Look, that one’s Spanish,” pointing to an exoskeleton that was leaning against a chair.
To our astonishment, we had traveled all the way to Massachusetts to find an exoskeleton developed by the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council, a Spanish state agency attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation) at the Cajal Institute.
As soon as we got home, we called the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council) to see if the technology they had developed could be licensed. The answer was positive, and within three months we finalized an agreement that led to the establishment of Gogoa Mobility Robots on August 28, 2015.
IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE REVOLUTION.

DESIGNING THE FUTURE

Neri Oxman's Krebs cycle of creativity
Ms. Oxman explains that we tend to think of Art as expression, Science as exploration, Engineering as invention, and Design as communication. In the Krebs Cycle of Creativity, she asks us to consider that Science transforms information into knowledge; Engineering transforms knowledge into utility; Design transforms utility into cultural behavior and context; and Art takes that context and questions our perception of the world.
The culminating moment is where Art meets Science, and changes in our perceptions affect how we capture data.
At Gogoa , we use this creative vision alongside the Design Thinking methodology in every step we take. We seek a balance between scientific theory and the real connection of human beings with their surrounding environment.
Our philosophy is one of well-being. We believe in improving quality of life and a better future.
