Delve into his rehabilitation story
In September 2020, Juan Antonio Pozo Gallego's life changed unexpectedly. A sunny day at the beach turned into a point of no return when a wave caused a cervical spinal cord injury. Despite the adversity, Juan Antonio didn't give up.
"I remember that day like it was yesterday," he states firmly. "It was a devastating blow, but I knew I had to keep fighting."
Weakness in his arms, torso, and legs, constant pain, and fatigue were his constant companions for the past three years. Juan Antonio recalls this period with bitterness: "I've been going from hospital to hospital and therapy to therapy without results," he shares with regret. However, when he began his rehabilitation in June at Movex Clinics, he glimpsed a glimmer of hope.
"Three times a week, I immerse myself in my recovery process with the HANK exoskeleton from Gogoa," Juan Antonio explains. "Each session is a challenge, but also an opportunity to move forward."
Over time, he experienced remarkable improvements in his strength and stamina. "At first, one lap was enough before I felt fatigued; now, I can walk continuously for 7-8 laps. It's amazing!"
His gait became more natural, his posture straightened, and his shuffling diminished. Each step resonated with a new rhythm, a melody of overcoming adversity that filled his spirit with hope.
"I try to coordinate the movement with my head," he shares with a satisfied smile. "I feel like I'm finally regaining the strength I thought I'd lost forever. I'm not so afraid of going up and down stairs anymore."
But what Juan Antonio values most is the support provided by the physiotherapists at Movex Clinics, Maite and Carolina. "In every session, their empathy and dedication are the source of inspiration I need," he says, his voice filled with emotion. But, most importantly for him, is the help they give him to disconnect and stop dwelling on the difficulties he encounters on his road to recovery. "I feel very comfortable and very happy with them; I love them," he emphasizes gratefully.
"Three years ago, I was told it would be difficult to walk normally again and that I would be confined to a wheelchair," Juan Antonio shares with determination. "But at Movex Clinics, I not only regained the ability to walk, I also started smiling again." His story is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit and the ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. Movex Clinics is a beacon of hope for those seeking to improve their quality of life.
